Evans Lodge is the new name of the hostels with a rich, colourful history and fond memories. It was previously known as Eusoffe College.
In 1958, when it was officially opened, the hostel was the first to accept females undergraduates from the University of Singapore (known as National University of Singapore)
Some of these undergraduates had since risen to occupy prominent positions in Singapore society. Prominent persons who stayed in the hostel included wives of several dignitaries in government, commercial companies, business houses and associations and institutions of higher learning.
